Today's ghazal was sent to me quite some time ago by a subscriber of MeG who is a poet himself. His taKhallus is "Shareek Sikandarabadi". Thank you for sharing this beautiful Qateel Shifai ghazal with us. raqs karane kaa milaa hukm jo dariyaao.n me.n ham ne Khush hoke bha.Nvar baa.Ndh liye paon me.n [raqs = dance; bha.Nvar = whirlpool] un ko bhii hai kisii bhiige hue manzar kii talaash buu.Nd tak bo na sake jo kabhii saharaao.n me.n [manzar = scene; talaash = search; bo = sow; saharaa = desert] ai mere ham-safaro.n tum bhii thaake-haare ho dhuup kii tum to milaavaT na karo chaao.n me.n jo bhii aataa hai bataataa hai nayaa ko_ii ilaaj baT na jaaye teraa biimaar masiihaao.n me.n hausalaa kis me.n hai yusuf kii Khariidaarii kaa ab to maha.ngaa_ii ke charche hai zulaiKhaao.n me.n [hausalaa = strength] Moderator's note: References to Yusuf and Zulaikha can be found in various ghazals and nazms. Yusuf (Joseph), son of Yaqub (Jacob) was a very handsome man. He was sold in market of Egypt where he was bought by Zulaikha.
