Poet: Meer Taqi Meer

yaaro mujhe mu'aaf karo mai.n nashe me.n huu.N
ab do to jaam khaalii hii do mai.n nashe me.n huu.N

maazuur huu.N jo paao.n mere betarah pa.De
tum sar-garaa.N to mujh se na ho mai.n nashe me.n huu.N

[maazuur = helpless; betarah = unsteady; sar-garaa.N = annoyed]

yaa haatho.n haath lo mujhe jaise ke jaam-e-may
yaa tho.Dii duur saath chalo mai.n nashe me.n huu.N

[jaam-e-may = goblet of wine]

This Gazal has been sung by C.H. Atma. The tune composed
by Murli Manohar Swarup, who composed quite a few ghazals
for Begum Akhtar. 

I must say that I was very surprised when I was told that this is
a Gazal by Meer Taqi Meer. It is quite unlike anything else that
I have read by Meer - very uncharacteristic. But I guess every
poet has some poems which are not written in the characteristic
style.
