What is Lafz? What is Lafz? Lafz is an opt-in mailing list that will help you build your Urdu vocabulary, one word at a time. Posts are sent through e-mail on Mondays and Thursdays. Each post contains a word from Urdu with its meaning(s), its gender and the language it is borrowed from. Usually associated words like compound words, adjectives, etc. based on the word of the day are also included in the post. Who can join Lafz? Is it free?Membership to Lafz is open and free for all. How can I join Lafz?To join Lafz, you will have to subscribe to it. Subscription is necessary to protect you from being added indiscriminately to every mailing list on the Internet. It also enables me to be sure that I am sending e-mails only to those who are interested. Otherwise, I could be guilty of spamming.
You can subscribe by using the subscription box on the home page or by sending a blank e-mail to: You can unsubscribe by sending a blank e-mail to: I am moving. Do I need to unsubscribe?If your e-mail address is not going to change, then there is no need to unsubscribe. However, if you are setting your account to vacation mode or if you are unsure of how long it will be before you can check your mail again, I would recommend that you either change the delivery mode from "e-mail" to "Web only" or unsubscribe and subscribe again later on. I am going on vacation. What do I need to do?If your account will be in vacation mode (sending a "I am on vacation" for every e-mail received), then you need to either unsubscribe or change the delivery mode from "e-mail" to "Web only". You may want to do this even otherwise unless you want to come back and find your Inbox full of unread posts. How do I change the e-mail address where I receive e-mails?To change the e-mail address at which you receive the e-mails, log in/sign-in to the e-mail account where you currently receive e-mails. Unsubscribe from your old e-mail account. Then, log-in/sign-in to your new e-mail account and subscribe from there. Can I read the posts on the Web?Yes, you can. If you don't want to receive e-mails, you can change the delivery mode to "Web only". However, to do this, you will have to go to the YahooGroups website and register yourself using the same e-mail address where you receive the posts. Once you are registered, you will be able to see the mailing lists you are subscribed to. You can then change the delivery mode to whatever you like. The default option is "E-mail". Where can I read the previous posts?All previous posts can be read at Yahoo Groups website or by clicking on the Archive link in the left navigation bar. Can I post to the group?No. Posting to the group is restricted to moderator only. |
